About Hugs and Kisses Little Doggy Daycare

Kristina Buczacky was born in Surrey in 1983 but was raised in rural Langley and three years later was accompanied by a sister. Surrounded by animals her whole life Kristina quickly took a liking to them. She was very fond of the dogs, cats, hamsters, chickens and goats that she had while living with her parents.

It was during this time that Kristina began to play with the idea of creating a service that offers human interaction and dog on dog socialization. When Kristina was 22 she received a Yorkshire Terrier as a Christmas gift and once again she experienced a rekindling love and connection with animals, especially smaller dogs. When Kristina decided to look for a companion for her Yorkie named Monster, she decided to adopt through the Abbotsford SPCA where she found her Yorkie-cross that she named Moses.

In adding this new member to her pack she recognized the benefit of human interaction, dog on dog socialization and a consistent exercise regimen. She was surprised at how quickly her new addition adapted to his new family. At this point in her life she again started to work with the idea of providing a service that offered dog on dog socialization, human interaction and exercise with the convenience of in home/office pick up and drop off service.

Through personal experience Kristina became aware of the unsatisfactory conditions of numerous boarding kennels where dogs were forced into confinement 23-24 hours a day and sometimes only permitted access to a very small solitary cement dog run. As a product of these observations Kristina devised a form of dog care that would focus on dog on dog socialization, personal care and is affordable to the client. A major component of this service would be to limit the amount of dogs to ten as to give them each individual attention.

As the daycare expands the number of dogs the daycare will allow at that time is twenty with the help of more employees. Over the last year Kristina has dedicated herself to building a dog sanctuary and researching breeds and behavioural characteristics of dogs, though she is still on her knowledge quest and there is much more learn. On June 1 2010 Kristina opened Hugs & Kisses Little Doggie Daycare and since then has been surrounded by the animals that she loves. “I promise to give your dog all the love and exercise he/she deserves.”
